” Treatments, Remedies and Tales “
Here is a never ending topic that everyone is sucked into with a million and one suggestions that are out there for faster or thicker hair growth.
We went through tons of research along with my decade of experience dealing with hair fall from 2 pregnancies’, poor hair care routines and just totally ignoring my hair health till it was severe.
What have I learned through out my haircare journey?
– Hair health and hair growth are two different things.
– Products and care can make your hair look healthy for the time being but it can’t necessarily grow hair out of your scalp.
– Avoiding heat can speed up the process of healing hair follicles.
– Having a hair routine no matter what type of hair you have whether it is any sort of curly, wavy or straight type. It is important to find products that can work with your hair type to establish a go to routine.
– We must try our best to wash our hair in cold water and use a shower filter.
– Cold water works best to help our hair.
– Use a soft towel to dry your hair.
In order for you to grow hair out of your scalp, you need to stimulate hair growth.
Stimulation can be done through a number of ways which are non-invasive and invasive at clinics along with few home treatments such as derma rollers.
Hair health begins from within just as much as skin care and keratin is an important molecule, a protein that helps with cell turnover and retaining hydration. Found in a list of different foods as well as sold in a supplement form to be taken.
Alongside hair routines with oils and serums, it is important not to shower with hot water, make sure we use a shower filter to have clean water for hair care.
A healthy habit of visiting your derma when you can to have a diagnosis on any other health concerns that can cause hair loss.
Hair growth can also differ from person to person and 90% of the time it is our genetics that decide on how much hair you have and how much you will end up with at a later stage as you age.
Eliminating Heat out of your routine, for instance air drying your hair rather than blow drying it, styling it straight or curly through heated techniques can really weaken your hair shaft and cause breakage and hair fall. So it’s best to avoid heat as much as possible, unless it’s deep conditioning with a heat cap.
As we welcome the new hair care era where we pay attention to labels, ingredients and stay away from free radicals, chemicals, parabens and mineral oil, it is necessary to adapt to products that can gently cleanse and nourish the hair without the unnecessary harsh chemicals.
We have done some extensive research below and put together few things for you to look out for…
HAIR VITAMINS, is it worth the buy?
There are many reasons why you might want to consider supporting your hair’s health with a few extra vitamins. Given that we live in a world full of Free radicals and oxidation effecting our anti-aging process. Our food has a decreasing amount of nutrients progressively over the years. As well as, the water that is supplied to taps and showers in the GCC really has a lot junk effecting our overall skin and hair health.
Most importantly, vitamins and minerals are absolutely essential for numerous bodily functions – including growing new cells such as your hair follicles.
A number of Top dermatologists in the US and world wide recommend adding healthy doses of :
Antioxidants, collagen, Omega 3 fatty acids, Vitamin A, D and C.
There is very little scientific evidence to prove that vitamins for hair growth actually work. However, severe shortage of biotin, zinc, niacin and iron may lead to hair loss in circumstances.
vitamin D, E and B complex vitamins are thought to support hair growth, although there is no evidence which directly supports Hair growth and thickness
Getting a daily supply of nutrients is a good thing but there are some vitamins and minerals, when too much is taken it could cause hair loss.
There are 4 main vitamins that will cause hair loss when taken in excess amounts.
The following vitamins are prime examples of those that are good for hair health when taken in moderation. However, if you increase the intake and are taking more than the recommended amount, it could cause hair loss called Telogen Effluvium. Biotin – 50mcg daily, Selenium – 55 mcg daily, Vitamin A – 800 mcg daily, Zinc – 10 mcg daily.
We say if your able to take on the supplements as a recommended dosage then it is worth the try.
- Hair Teas and Oils
Tea tree oil and olive oil are great combination to make the hair healthier and promotes hair growth. Olive oil is nourishing oil in nature hence the scalp gets thoroughly nourished. Moreover, this natural remedy will also cure the scalp infections and any other reason that may lead to scalp pores blockage
Tea tree oil has the ability to transform your hair, starting at the scalp. Its antimicrobial, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties make it a potent treatment for dandruff, improving overall scalp health. Healthy hair and new growth start at the scalp, so improving your scalp health should be the first step in any attempt to increase hair growth.
Let us say, Coconut oil for dry hair.
Coconut oil is rich in hydrating omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E, which is known to add shine to hair and is essential for scalp, Avocado oil, Almond Oil and rose Mary oil as well helps promote hair health.
Recently, tiktok has been taken over with the “Rosemary hair tea rinse” which is a simple boiled rose Mary water, cooled down and used as a last step rinse in the hair wash routine.
Women have sworn that it has drastically changed their hair journey and increased hair growth.
I have personally tried the Rose Mary water rinse.
successfully using it 3 times a week for an entire month.
You simple boil rosemary stems with the ratio of 1 cup of water for 4 pcs of rosemary stems. Bring water to a boil and let rosemary leaves stew for a lil bit till you let it cool and put it away in a hair spray bottle.
Use it to rinse your hair in the shower after shampoo/conditioner and let it set in and dry. style as usual and you are done. You can also replace the rosemary water rinse to rosemary oil twice a week as a oil treatment for your hair before wash days. like a “pre-poo” yup that’s what it’s called in hair terminology.
Not sure if I can see a difference yet in my hair since doing the rinse but I’ll keep going for a month longer and report back to you guys on how it is going. Make sure to follow me on Tiktok to stay up to date.
What is your “go to” hair care treatments or products?
– Are you a fan of all thing natural when it comes to haircare or do you love your mesotherapy at the hair clinic?
– One thing is for sure that we have to normalize hair fall/loss as part of growing older and in some cases for other reasons we were handed. We should enjoy the journey along the way.
We are a fan of both natural ingredients and scientific mixtures at the hair clinics.
A joy to find a balance in the middle somewhere, that would help us achieve our personal hair goals!
